Meet The Artist

Marilena Christodoulou is a visual artist drawn to the raw and intimate presence of the human body. Her work explores the nude as a place where emotion, desire, vulnerability, and the tensions we carry beneath the surface can be seen and felt.

Many of her paintings begin with an image that appears unexpectedly, sometimes a fragment of a body, a face, or a gesture, already formed in colour; sometimes an entire composition arriving at once. These images often come from dreams, visions, or feelings that stay with her long after they first appear. Painting becomes a way of giving these inner images a physical form.

Her work is driven less by the need to describe the body realistically and more by the emotions held within it. Through expressive colour, texture, and gesture, she explores intimacy, sensuality, vulnerability, grief, and transformation. The body becomes both subject and language, a way of speaking about experiences that are often difficult to put into words.

Each collection develops from this ongoing dialogue between what is seen, what is remembered, and what is felt.
